Game Completion Competition: Anthony's Week 2 Blog

Wait, we?re still doing this damn thing? Freakin? people making me actually finish games and ****.Week #2 of the Game Completion Competition has treated me very well. I had no strategy for the competition heading into these unbearably moist days of August. But I let myself hang loose and just went at it with reckless abandon. Oh, and I played a couple of games, too.

Expendables 2 The Game (PS3) ? Early in the week I grew a pair and decided that I had to finish the damn thing once and for all. I don?t know how the **** I did it, but its over, dead, and never coming back. Ever. No more muffled yells. No more terrible jokes. No more Asian stereotypes. OK, maybe we still need a couple of those actually. But that?s besides the point. The thing to focus on here is that I started playing Expendables 2 The Game and emerged 4 hours and 46 minutes later with 50 points in tow, plus some achievement bonuses once I find the willpower to sit down and look at anything pertaining to that game again. I didn?t come out unscathed, and it?s going to take some time to heal these wounds. But it?s done.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marines (PC) ? This little gem is one I had started several moons ago after purchasing it and a dirt cheap price point during the Steam Christmas Sale last year. I had put around 2 hours into it previously, so that guaranteed that I wouldn?t be getting the max amount of points I could have out of the title and I didn?t want to start over because I don?t play dat. This game was a Godsend for the bad day I was having when I played it and those poor little Orks still don?t know what hit them. I can?t explain how much pleasure I got laying those green pansies to waste with my Chainsword. Yes, I said Chainsword. It?s a chainsaw attached to one end a sword. That?s ****ing brilliant, and this game gave me plenty of chances to use it. I didn?t know what the hell was going on in the story, and the game was a little too, uh, ?eloquent? for my liking, I guess. But at the prices you can find it at, it definitely deserves a play through. After cutting through an estimated 2 million Orks, 500,000 KISS demons, and one really big douchebag, Warhammer 40k: Space Marines was retired from duty after 5 hours and 39 minutes of play. That precious time, along with 14 achievements, totaled for another 64 points on the board.

Walking Dead Episode 2 (PC) After playing the fantastic Episode 1, I was itching to get at this episode because the story just has me caught up so much. The only thing holding me back from playing for a couple of weeks is that the episodes are so short that I wanted to make sure that when I did start, I could sit back with a glass of bubbly RC Cola and sift through all of the drama and zombies in one go. Finding the proper time table for this was a daunting task until yesterday. The Herbert Moons aligned for me and I had a good 5 hours to myself on Sunday, just enough time to polish off Walking Dead Episode 2 and catch up on this season?s 40 Oz. Bounce episodes. Both proved to be equally exciting, thoughtful, and traumatizing. It took all of 2 Hours and 37 minutes to finish up the second installment of the wonderful Walking Dead. That puts another 20 points on the board and caps off what was a very productive week for me.

What?s on top for the upcoming days? Well, I have one big surprise in store, plus I was supposed to start Ico as I called it as my first game in the podcast. Unfortunately, someone *Cougheverydaychriscough* has apparently taken my disc and I cannot pinpoint its location. There will be consequences to pay. Stay tuned.
