13th Annual Conference: The Gift That Keeps on Giving | ABIHM

The ABIHM/Scripps 13th Annual Science and Clinical Application of Integrative Holistic Medicine was a tremendous success! 501 attendees enjoyed a fantastic program of clinically useful, evidence oriented information, and left with full hearts and brains.

We began the conference with a historical perspective from ABIHM Founder, Robert Anderson, MD, who told the story of the early days of the ABIHM and the evolution of holistic medicine. The day continued with inspiring lectures from Mimi Guarneri, MD, ABIHM,? Tieraona Low Dog, MD, Alan Gaby, MD, ABIHM, Daniel Friedland, MD, ABIHM, and David Rakel, MD, ABIHM, all of which wove together science with humanism and set the tone for a beautiful week of learning and connection.? We did not forget to enjoy October 31st; our costume party and dance was great fun, and some of our speakers really enjoyed the spirit of Halloween.

We have heard from so many of you expressing your words of awe and appreciation for the experience. One physician, Ami Mavani, MD, ABIHM, said this: ?I wanted to extend my sincere thanks and heartfelt love for what the conference and you offered me. The camaraderie, the spirit and the feeling of belonging left me inspired and wanting more?.congratulations on orchestrating the whole celebration of the spirit of medicine while maintaining the sobriety and science of medicine so flawlessly. It truly was a fabulous conference?

Dr. Danielle Gordon told a wonderful story: ?I really wanted to share something that happened to me minutes after I finished the exam this morning that really warmed my heart and speaks to just how many people were touched this week by your great conference and its message?.I was speaking to one of the hotel employees, who asked if I was one of those doctors at the ?health conference.?? I said I was, and that I just wrote the exam and that it was my first time attending.? She said she?d pray that it went well for me and then told me that this week had changed her life.? She walked by the conference on the first day on her break, and overheard them talking about high cholesterol, fatigue, and obesity, and her ears perked up because she suffered from all of these things! She decided to stop and listen. She was so excited about what was being said and wanted to learn more, so every day on her breaks, she stood or sat in the corner where the computers were charging to ?sit in? on the lecture.? She has in the past week joined a gym with her husband (for the first time EVER) and has stopped microwaving her food in plastic, and emailed all her friends and family to do the same.? She said she also learned about cutting down on sugar and bread to help her with her weight and blood sugar.? She had lots of questions for me too? and was so excited about starting on a healthier path with her family?.?
