For the past three years, all of the permanent Microsoft Store locations have been opened in the US. Today, that changed as Microsoft launched its first permanent retail location in another country.
As documented on the Microsoft Store Facebook page, the company has now opened a store in Canada. Specifically, the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto is the new place where people can go to check out the latest Microsoft related products. This is the 31st store opening for the company, not counting the 34 temporary holiday stores that Microsoft launched in the US and Canada three weeks ago.
People who attend today's opening in Toronto will have a chance to meet Canadian sports legend Wayne Gretzky and perhaps play him in a Xbox 360 Kinect Hockey game. A lucky few will get a free concert later that day by the group Train.
Microsoft has already announced that San Antonio, Texas will be the location for the next Microsoft Store but a launch date for that outlet has yet to be announced. The company has said it the past it wants to see a total of 44 Microsoft Stores open by mid-2013.
