Man shot in St. Claude neighborhood, according to New Orleans ...

A 20-year-old man was shot twice in the back and once in the forearm Friday afternoon in the St. Claude neighborhood, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The incident happened about 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of Independence Street.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, and he arrived in stable condition, New Orleans EMS spokesman Jeb Tate said. Police have not released any more information.

There was a deadly shooting on that block of Independence Street on May 1. A gunman that day opened fire on Kevin Stewart, 22, critically wounding him. Stewart died some four hours later at a hospital from his injuries, authorities said.
